On one level, it has an independent entrance to an enclosed courtyard (useful if you have bikes)... The apartment consists of a very well-equipped kitchenette/dining area and a separate bedroom, with 1 comfortable bed (160×200cm) + 1 bathroom/wc. Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . Little cocoon of love, with magnificent views, 6 km from Aubenas. This shelter was self-built with eco-friendly materials. The walls are made of straw, wood and clay plaster. Beautiful wooden terrace, where it's nice to rest. A dirt road starts from Ustaou for a short walk, and many other walks all around. Descriptions of hiking possible inside.
