Build over 100 years ago restored to its original state. Thick mud walls are testimony to its originality. My place is close to the breathtaking De Hoop Nature Reserve's white beaches, travelers hotspot Malagas with the pont, bush pub and boathouse restaurant. It's the perfect location to stay for a week and enjoy everything the area of Swellendam & Bredasdorp has on offer. You’ll love Die Blouhuis because of the uniqueness of staying in a old-styled farm house. It is remote and therefor very peaceful, private and safe - perfect retreat for couples, solo adventurers and families, especially kids.

"ROOIKOP" A HOUSE ON THE BREEDE RIVER ESTUARY

A house on the estuary of a VERY BIG river ie - Lower Breede river - about 15km from the sea, the house is set back about about 15m from the river . It is completely off the grid , ie only solar power and rainwater. It might not suit city dwellers who need every gadget and convenience but its heaven for the hardier ones Please bring bedding and towels . The are pillows and various duvet inners but we don't have a washing machine so we cannot supply linen

When we first opened our spot we were truly over the hills and far away... now the village has grown around us a bit, but the place can still feel pretty secluded. The architect-designed house mixes inside/outside space with plenty of room for family.. Explore wetland, river and the Langeberg mountains. With plenty of comforts this spot is paradise for children, dogs and a retreat for adults.
