Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The Garden Cottage includes: - Fresh free-range eggs from the hens in garden - Bosch & Smeg appliances - Aeropress & grinder for coffee - Art pieces by a selection of Icelandic artists - Simple white noise machines with USB charging ports - King & Queen-sized Simba mattress with luxury down pillows & duvets - Wifi & Bluetooth Speaker - Backyard Filson horseshoe set - Weber Smokey Joe BBQ - Yoga mat upon request - Conveniently located across the road from the town's main bus terminal which will take you to Reykjavík & beyond For families: - Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair & Stokke cradle upon request - Bugaboo stroller upon request - BloomBaby lounger chair upon request Note: By law Iceland is requiring all Airbnb's to register their property legally to keep quality, standards & ethics high. Our registration number is HG-00003324 Our guests have the whole bottom house to themselves, with a selection of curated magazines, books & products from R.T.Co. & other designers. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

Under mountain Esja, Kjalarnes. A peaceful place.

Kirkjuland is a small farm just 10km north of Reykjavik, on Kjalarnes. Located under the beautiful mountain Esja. Peaceful and cozy.. We can host 2 persons at our facility. Fantastic view over the Reykjavik area. We are close to many beautiful places you would want to visit; like Thingvellir national park, Glymur the highest waterfall in Iceland, Húsafell , Krauma, Giljaböð natural bath places, etc. All photos of the northern lights taken in our garden! Outdoor swimming pools very close by.

Cosy cottage with SAUNA. Excellent location.

Exellent location between Airport (30 min.) and Reykjavík (15.min Central). The Cottage is downtown Hafnarfjörður, close to the harbour, a walking distance from Restaurants, Coffee shops, Tourist info, cute little shops, supermarket and a central bus stop. Taking a SAUNA after a long day is a real treat and the "outside" shower (with hot and cold water) is a great experience. The outside shower is though inside (room not heated) with all the privacy needed. Registration nr.: HG-00000485

Gunnu Hús by Meðalfellsvatn ( Our lakeside cottage nestles at the foot of Medalfell mountain and the garden leads right down to the lake. The views are spectacular, of the lake and its surrounding mountain scape; it is a place of pure tranquility. It has 3 bedrooms and an open plan kitchen and sitting room. It has a large double bedroom, and small double bedroom and a room with a bunk bed. It is well known and often listed as one of the most scenic and lovely summer cottages in Iceland.

The Old Barn – Special place in spectacular nature

The farm is settled in the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. Powerful mountains all around, sound of the fresh salmon-river, waterfall in the breath taking canyon. Aurora Borealis from your window, when the conditions are right. Great for getting away. Relax or be creative. Mindful hiking in the untouched nature and enjoy farm live. Middle of nowhere, and yet it is only 22 km. drive from Reykjavik center. Many points of interest are within easy reach like the Golden Circle.

An example of what's near our property: adventure for couples or individuals, good hiking trails mountain Esja, Mosfellsdalur, Álafoss valley, horse association Hörður and short to Icelandic nature, 30 minutes drive to Þingvellir National Park, Grocery store and swimming pool within walking distance. Lovely, little apartment on the seafront in a peaceful neighborhood a 15-minute drive from downtown Reykjavik. Perfect base near the highways to the primary tourist locations such as Thingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir and the South Coast with the waterfalls, glaciers etc. Comfy one mattress bed (160x200cm=63x79in), tiny new bathroom, a kitchenette to make simple meals in the living room as well as a TV with Netflix. You will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views whilst staying in our cozy little cabin. During wintertime you can sit inside or outside in the LARGE JACUZZI and enjoy the Northern lights show! This is the perfect location as you are only 20 minutes drive from the city centre while still being out in the countryside. Staying here you are also conveniently placed for your day tours to the South coast or to Snæfellsnes Peninsula in the West.

Small room in a quiet neighborhood in Mosfellsbær, ca. 20 min. by car to Reykjavik center, some minutes walk to the river and shore. Private shower/toilet/kitchen. Fast free wireless network. Private check-in because we keep the key in a keybox. Short to local shops, restaurants, petrol stations, swimming pools, gym, horse riding, golf, mountain hiking etc. Perfect starting point for the "Golden Circle" or northern lights tours.
